I’d like to see “how to” information about what one needs to learn to even get started creating data visualizations: a syllabus for wannabe visualizers. I love looking at them–would like to be able to create some myself!

artistic viz – beauty is usually the main concern e.g. the dumpster
infographics – graphics not quite for data e.g. graphics in the news
data sources – free data avail for download
design – principles for good graphics, viz
programming tips – code examples for viz
applied stat – statistics in the real world
self-surveillance – collecting and visualizing data about yourself, my research focus (hint hint)
