Retirement Ages by Country
China recently increased their retirement age to 63 for men and 55 for women (and 58 for female civil servants). Even with the adjustment, the country is still on the lower end when compared to other countries, as shown below.
Retirement Ages for Men and Women
Where retirement age covers a range, the earliest age is shown. Most are as of 2024.
The United States allows early retirement at 62, albeit with reduced benefits from the Social Security Administration. You need to wait until 67 for full benefits.
These ages are related to life expectancy, how long people can work, and how long the pension programs can support retirees. Many (or most?) countries are in the process of pushing retirement later.
