I tend to post a wide array of subjects from the data spectrum, so I know all of you come from different view points and areas of study. Some are in academics, and others are casual readers. Some work with data for a living while others are more about design.

In Tufte’s terms, I have tools that can count but I haven’t figured out how to use tools that can see (Inkscape, Illustrator). I come to learn how to tell stories.
What about “Two or three but not all of the above”? With checkboxes, I would go for design inspiration and analysis tools.
You know how you slow down when driving past the scene of an accident. A bit like that…. myahahahaha.

To read your (Nathan’s) take on the graphic, and the ensuing comment thread. Or stated differently, to observe and/or participate in the community’s discussion of data and visulations.
I answered “Pretty pictures”, but it’s not because I think the pictures are pretty. I like the images and graphs which present complex information in a useful way. I think some of these images do a spectacular job at making complex information in a way which is understandable by those of us who are not statistics, finance or business geeks. I post some of these to Facebook, receive many positive comments, especially when it covers a current political issue.
Some of the pictures are too “pretty” and not informative enough. Other pictures present information in a bad way, and are just ugly.
just haven’t got anything better to do…

My true answer is “All of the Above.” However, in a desire to make my vote more helpful to your future planning, I voted for my primary interest, “Design Inspiration.”
