While we’re on the topic of beer (it is Friday after all), let’s take a look at legal drinking age around the world. Greenland – no age limit. Probably gotta drink to stay warm, eh? Have a nice weekend, everyone. Be kind to your liver.
[Thanks, Jason]
Actually, the drinking age varies from province to province in Canada. (ie: 19 in Ontario, 18 in Quebec & Manitoba)
Iceland I understand, everyone else on pot but what is that country in the middle of South America? btw big push here in NZ to go back to 20.
You got Denmark wrong. You are allowed to buy alcohol in a store at the age of 16 and in a bar at the age of 18. However, there are no laws preventing you from drinking alcohol at any age.
This is a cool graphic, but what on earth happened to Japan? This map is screwed-up.
Nigeria has not drinking restriction.
I’m pretty sure Romania has a minimum age of 18, if I remember correctly (but I may not).
In some states in India, the legal drinking age is 25 (holy mackerel!) whereas in other states its totally prohibited.
Here the wikipedia article on this subject http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_drinking_age
I’m from Colombia and the drinking age there is 18, I remember buying alcohol and beer for my uncles between age 6 and 12… And I was 12 the first time I got drunk…
I’m from Romania and the legal drinking age is 18, as opposed to your map which says there is no age limit.
Is there really no age limit in North Korea, or is it just unknown?

I don’t think alcohol is banned in tunisia.
Turkeys drinking age limit may be 18, but they never card for alcohol or cigarettes, little kids can even buy it and they dont care
@Anne – an odd choice given it is a visualisation, let alone the political implications.
This would be even more interesting if a couple of other parameters were added – voting age, and legal driving age.

Here in North Korea, the minimum drinking age is 17, though alcoholic beverages are typically served on Saturdays.

Yeah I have lived all my life in Ethiopia and never heard of the drinking age being 18. I used to go get my dad beer from the store all the time!

But I doubt that there is no alcohol restrictions on greenland.

Sorry, but your data on EU countries legal drinking age is just wrong. Check your facts.
