update: there are some youtube videos out there. If you're not blessed enough to be using Windows Vista or higher and so can't see that stupid Silverlight embedded video, just search youtube for "Microsoft Live Labs Pivot". Yes, Flash is still closed-sourced, but unlike Silverlight, Adobe actually made an effort to make it work on all three major OS's.

Wow, was lucky enough to snag one of those 10 invites. :-) First impressions: it's beautiful, the love-child of Photosynth and Picasa trying to find a footing in data-visualization. As with all teenagers though, it still needs some more focus, but as it stands, looks promising!

ugh. This is what is frustrating about Microsoft Labs. They do tons of interesting work, but you can't actually see any of it unless you're using windows. They're shooting themselves in the foot... yes, they investing billions in this new Silverlight software, but we just don't use windows here at work. Present your work to a wide audience! Just make a damn youtube video which can be viewed by just about anyone.

I was at a conference about a month ago and saw this technology used on an iPhone. They had re-created the famous Seurrat, pointilist painting (can't remember the name). When you zoomed in on the iPhone, each point was a soda can. Freakin' sweet.
