These are rated purely on my enjoyment level on each film and nothing else. Frankly I’m surprised by how many sequels were better than the original. And I’m not surprised that the 3rd movie is never the best.
Perhaps more surprising is that Dan’s actually seen so many full trilogies, especially after the second in a series sucking so bad.

This is fun. I do enjoy the third Indiana Jones most in that trilogy, though. Adding Sean Connery really made it awesome!
I also agree with Tufte on the matter of unneeded ink; in this graphic the black boxes add nothing and actually take away from the visual differences between the films.
I like to stay away from critique when the “viz” is a comic :)

What might be more interesting would be to see this somehow correlated with the actual box office revenues of the films… (which is what I thought I was looking at when I took my first glance)

My only question is whether he’s rating episodes 1-3 of Star Wars, or episodes 4-6.
If it’s 1-3, he’s kidding, if 4-6, then I pretty much agree. :)
How about doing the same graphs based on IMDB rating, views/revenue in movie theaters and DVD sales? It may turn out to be an interesting comparison.
