Create an Excel Dashboard, Win an iPhone

BonaVista Systems is running an Excel dashboard competition through this May. First place is an Apple iPhone; second place is a ticket to Stephen Few's Visual Business Intelligence Workshop; and third place is the book Information Dashboard Design.

The rules are pretty flexible. They're looking for clean, for-business dashboards. There's just one catch, which is that you can only use Excel and BonaVista's Excel add-on, Microcharts 3. I personally, am not much of an Excel user, but if any of you happen to win, let me know, so I can highlight your work (and take credit for informing you about it :).

Epic Systems together with Beemode (www.beemode.com) has developed a Data Visualisation software almost ready to be released soon. It does the same functions as Gapminder which you can view at :

We are looking to promote that software in various sectors. It is a new concept in viewing statistics and trends in an animated way. It could be used in Education, analysis, research, decision making, presentation, etc.

Here is one link for part of what we did with the Egyptian Government :

Here is another link for a project we did with Princeton University on US unemployment :

I hope you could evaluate it and give me your comments. So many ideas are there.

    “R… in industry? Ha!”

This is why some of us concentrate our efforts within Microsoft Excel. It is ubiquitous, so everyone has the platform I design to.
